Day One: Discovery and Plan of Action

Yesterday (May 13, 2006, Folwell Hts, Rochester, MN)
All is well:
Trees are leafing out, lilacs and crab apple trees are budding, Virginia Bluebells are at their peak on the Mayowood Trail, and my hosta borders and hosta gardens are thriving. Check.
Need to buy some Liquid Fence and put down some temporary deer netting (strategies neighbors Cliff and Sue use). Where are those Dial Gold Deoderant Soap bars I bought in quantity last fall at Sam's Club? Note: get the garage re-organized!
Make net pouches to hang them in and scatter at key points in the yard. Call Lois S. and see if she needs some (her Norway pines are being nibbled to death in our shared "nature alley")

Tonight (May 14)
Arrgghhh! Tender emerging hostas are chewed to the quick on the east border of the yard! No!!
Resurrecting and re-installing storm-fencing barriers plus inverted tomato cones and other temporary barriers for the night.
